Thousands of families struggle to afford basic necessities like diapers. Your support during the San Diego Food Bank’s Diaper Drive can change that.
In addition to providing food assistance, the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank assists thousands of families with other critical needs such as diapers.
The Food Bank started the Diaper Bank Program to help solve an important piece of the poverty puzzle for young parents living in poverty by giving them the hand up they need to work for their families. Not having diapers means parents cannot leave their children with a childcare provider, most of whom require parents to provide disposable diapers for their children.
A healthy child will require an average of 50 diaper changes a week. That’s approximately 2,600 diaper changes a year. And with more than 48% of the nation’s children under the age of three living below the poverty level or in low-income families, there are approximately 5.4 million children across America who could need assistance.
Last year alone, the Food Bank supplied more than 9.1 million diapers to local families in need.
Unfortunately, this year, the Food Bank will likely not receive full renewal funding to keep the program running. But we understand how important this program is to our community, so we’re calling on our supporters to help keep this vital program alive.
Donate today and provide hope to local families:
From June 17 – 28, donate through our Virtual Diaper Drive! Your donation of just $25 will help the Food Bank supply up to 125 diapers!
Additionally, for our supporters in North County, you can also donate physical diapers on June 28 as part of Assemblywomen Laurie Davies’ Community Diaper Drive.
