Postal workers across San Diego County are gearing up for the 31st annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive taking place on Saturday, May 13. The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is a partnership with the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) and is the largest single-day food drive in the United States!
How does it work?
The San Diego Food Bank and the NALC are asking San Diegans to participate by setting out a bag filled with nonperishable food items next to their mailboxes.
Simply place the nonperishable food items you wish to donate in a grocery bag by your mailbox and your mail carrier will pick up your donation and deliver them to the Food Bank where the food will be provided to families in need.
Not sure what to donate? Below is a list of the Food Bank’s ‘most needed’ food items:
- Canned Meats & Fish
- Canned Vegetables
- Canned Soups & Stews
- Canned Fruits
- Oatmeal, Cereal & Rice
- Peanut Butter
The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is part of a national effort to collect food for those facing hunger across the country and it begins with our community setting a positive example. Let’s make 2023 a record-breaking year!
