From June 1 to June 30, you can help the North County Food Bank and the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank feed children living in poverty and families impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic during our School’s Out, Hunger’s Not – COVID-19 Summer Food Drive.

While San Diego County is seeing improvement in the economy with state reopening guidance, tens of thousands of families continue to suffer from the economic impacts of the pandemic.  Coupled with this, child hunger is at an all-time high with local schoolchildren having limited or no access to free school meal drive-thru distribution locations.

With the community’s support, this year’s School’s Out, Hunger’s Not – COVID-19 Summer Food Drive will raise vital food donations and funds to feed children and families facing food insecurity in communities throughout San Diego County.

Here’s How You Can Help

Donate a $5 Hunger Bag During Checkout at Albertsons or Vons

During checkout at Albertsons and Vons, shoppers can donate a $5 pre-filled Hunger Bag. Each bag contains our “most needed” food items, which will be distributed to local families in need.

Every San Diego County Albertsons and Vons location is participating in our summer food drive campaign, so please visit your neighborhood supermarket and make a difference today!

Purchase and Donate Nonperishable Food Items at Albertsons or Vons

You can also purchase and donate nonperishable food items at any San Diego County Albertsons or Vons supermarket location. Not sure what to donate?

Our most needed food items, include:
– canned meats
– canned fish
– canned vegetables
– canned fruits
– canned soups & stews
– peanut butter
– cereal
– oatmeal

Please drop off your physical donations in one of the Food Bank’s famous red food drive barrels located at the front of the store.
